Wholesome Pet Food
Our Story
I grew up with three dogs. Two were poodle mixes and were sisters. I started pet nutrition early in childhood by putting everything I thought dogs would love to eat in one bowl and stirring it up. True, the dogs loved it! But the "ingredients" were very questionable as a wholesome meal. They often included American cheese, dog biscuits, bologna, and peanut butter!
I have since added a great deal to my knowledge and experience with dogs. My interest began when I began to question the idea that a dog would spend its whole life eating basically baked crackers day after day and meal after meal for years. How could that be healthy or enjoyable? When our beloved Ruby was diagnosed with lymphoma, I went into high gear and worked with my daughter Charlotte to create a recipe that would meet her special needs. Both she and our other dog loved the food so much that they would dance over to their bowls at mealtime after tapping around energetically in the kitchen while I put the food in their bowls.
Until Ruby's very last day on earth, she loved her dog food, and I knew she was getting high quality filler-free wholesome nutrition.
I decided to become a certified pet nutritionist, and I enjoyed that course so much that I added a certification in therapeutic pet nutrition shortly thereafter. I love cooking dog food because dogs gobble it up! They are grateful in a way only dogs can be.
After finishing my courses, I spent a year working with my daughter, Charlotte, and son-in-law, Connor, to develop a commercial recipe that would highlight the best nutritional insights I learned. My main goal is to sell high-quality dog food to busy families who want the best for their dogs, but do not have the time or equipment to cook large batches of food each week. The turkey recipe dog food is steamed and prepared by us, and then necessary vitamins and nutrients are added in the right amounts to meet the AAFCO guidelines for complete dog nutrition.
